Creating a comic strip requires a lot of work, especially for the cartoonist. Here the artists Barly Baruti and Al’Mata show their working methods and the special drawing techniques that makes their styles so extraordinary.
Curators Lydia Schellhammer and Christ Mukenge of the online project “Popular Images” together with artists Santa Kakese and Thembo Kash provide an insight into the Congolese comic scene. The video was shot at two central locations of Kinshasa’s comic scene: at the Academy of Fine Arts and in Lingwala, the artists’ quarter known especially for performances and installations in the public space.
